Our OSC of the Month for March is Olga Walker, Online Sales Counselor for Creative Homes in Woodbury, Minnesota. Olga recently received the Gold Award for Rookie OSC of the Year at The Nationals! In her interview, she shares her feelings about being recognized as Rookie of the Year, her path to becoming an OSC, and tips for others in the industry.
How does it feel to receive the Gold Award for Rookie OSC of the Year?
It’s been a couple of weeks since being awarded the Rookie OSC of the year award and I’m still reeling. I was so new to the role and had absolutely no expectations going in, but I knew I at least wanted to give this a try not only for myself but for Creative Homes as well. As far as I’m concerned, the recognition for the Silver Award and invitation to The National Awards was already beyond what I thought I was capable of as a rookie. Hearing my name called for the Gold Award at The Nationals Sales & Marketing Awards was absolutely incredible. Receiving this award has given me so much confidence in my role.
What was your career path to becoming an OSC?
I actually started as a New Home Specialist working onsite in one of our communities. I transitioned to this role knowing that I wanted something a little different in my day-to-day life but what I didn’t know at the time was how much I’d end up loving it! I have always loved working with people and nurturing those relationships, so this role has been perfect for me.
I’ve been in new home sales since September 2020 and in my role of OSC since July 2021 and currently manage approximately 100 leads a month.
How have you seen online home sales change in the last few years?
More and more of our appointments overall are being set by an OSC. Even more importantly, the impact an OSC has on an appointment leads to a higher conversion rate.
What are the most important technology(s)/tool(s) you use in your role?
I have two tools that I use every single day that I cannot go without. The first thing I do each morning is start by opening up Lasso to review new leads that came in overnight and prepare for my activities scheduled that day. With Lasso, I’m able to manage, schedule, and prospect throughout my day. My mobile phone is also a tool that I use every day and always have on me. Whether I’m answering calls at my desk or on the go, filming videos for our prospects, or logging into the Lasso app, my phone ends up being one of the most versatile tools I currently use.
Who are your “go-to” resources for training and/or support?
My go-to resource for training and support would be the team at Do You Convert. They have terrific fundamentals and best practices for OSC’s that truly make sense and work!
Any tips or advice for fellow online salespeople and marketers?
Building a good relationship with your New Homes Specialist and Marketing and communication is key. You are a team in all of this! With a market that just continues to change, communication is so important.
What are your favorite activities to do outside of work?
I love to travel and try to visit a body of water on each trip I take. The first place I went to as travel started getting back to normal was Greece. It was my first time there and I can’t wait to go back. My next European adventure may take me to Italy!
