ECI Software Solutions, a leader in cloud-based business management solutions, today announced that Gordon Kushner, Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, was recognized as a 2020 Top 50 Corporate Counsel Award winner at the OnConferences Icon Awards program held in Orlando, Florida on January 17th. The Top 50 list is based on peer recognition of performance, impact and contributions, which this year totaled more than 4,500 votes. Additionally, in late 2019, Kushner received a First Chair Award for Top General Counsel, an annual selection of in-house counsel who have, through their hard work and innovation, made significant contributions to the legal community.
Kushner, who has served as ECI’s General Counsel for the past 16 years, is responsible for worldwide legal affairs, with a focus on compliance, technology licensing, acquisitions and strategic relationships. ECI has acquired more than 30 companies since 2004, all of which were successfully completed under Kushner’s supervision. Kushner has also overseen all legal aspects of private equity investments in ECI, beginning with Insight Ventures in 2007 through Goldman Sachs, The Carlyle Group and most recently funds managed by Apax Partners in 2017.
“Gordon is an indispensable member of our leadership team,” said Ron Books, CEO, ECI Software Solutions. “ECI is growing and moving fast, and Gordon remains our trusted advisor to help see us through the myriad of legal questions companies like ECI face daily. We are incredibly grateful for his contributions inside and outside of our organization, both of which are well recognized by these prestigious awards.”
Prior to joining ECI, Kushner was Vice President and General Counsel of the Platform for Media, Inc., a venture-backed, digital-media-technology company that was acquired by Comcast Interactive Media, and Chief Intellectual Property Counsel for Baan N.V., based in the Netherlands. Kushner has also served as Senior Corporate Counsel for Structural Dynamics Research Corporation and began his legal career in the corporate department of Dinsmore & Shohl, based in Cincinnati.
“Gordon’s depth of experience and knowledge in the legal industry make him truly deserving of this award,” said Jordan Cowman and Kurt Kappes, labor and employment and litigation shareholders at Greenberg Traurig, a global law firm that regularly supports Kushner and ECI. “The award is a testament to Gordon’s character, integrity and leadership in the legal field.”
