Ease of Use
Easy On The Eyes, Easy On Your Guys
All software vendors say their product is easy to use, but how true is this?
Easy compared to what?
Within a few minutes of the demo, you should be able to understand how the system would work in your environment. Employees will quickly stop using a system that's a hindrance, not a help.
A system that's difficult to use will also require longer training. Most shops don't have the luxury of a long implementation time, so if the training period takes a long time, your company will be denied reaping the new system's benefits. It's not just about the speed of implementation but ongoing use. Trust your first impressions. Not all users are IT professionals, so make sure it's easy for everyone to use.
Key Questions:
- Are the screens easy to understand and free from clutter?
- Is the screen layout consistent throughout the system?
- Does the system match your business processes or show you a better way?
- Can you create parts, bills, orders, etc., with minimum data entry?
- Can you access information in summary and drill down into the details when required?
