Implementation
Up And Running In No Time
A successful system implementation takes longer than computer hardware and software installation. It takes qualified people. Unfortunately, many smaller shops don’t have the resources to dedicate full-time to the implementation. In these cases, the role of the software vendor is critical to a successful implementation.
Just like the people who hire a personal trainer to help achieve their fitness goals, job shops don’t always have the expertise in-house to implement a system. Dedicating an employee to handle the implementation can disrupt business operations, too, so some companies hire an independent outside consultant.
You can’t turn over all of the responsibility for the implementation to the software vendor. However, the proper assistance from the vendor can make the vital difference between success and failure.
Key Questions:
- How long does a typical implementation take?
- If I have an outside consultant, what role will they play during implementation?
- Will the software vendor assign your company a dedicated account manager?
- Is the account manager compensated for your success or failure?
