ECI Software Solutions, a leader in cloud-based business management solutions, today announced that Excel Connection is the winner of the inaugural ECI Customer Excellence Award for its use of M1 to improve its business operations and remain agile during the COVID-19 pandemic. This award honors organizations that have successfully deployed ECI solutions to achieve excellence in business efficiency, customer experience and overall performance in their business.
A custom manufacturer of electrical wire and cable solutions, Milwaukee-based Excel Connection had embarked on a digital transformation initiative that would optimize and modernize its business—and deploying ECI’s manufacturing enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, M1, was a critical factor in helping reduce its overall operational costs, shorten lead times and manage inventories. Excel was able to go paperless by moving all files and documents to a central location on the platform that can be accessed from anywhere, anytime. These improvements helped Excel respond to industry disruptions caused by changing tariff prices and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Excel manufactures the electrical wires and harnesses for manufacturers who make the electrical equipment used by railroads, water treatment and hospitals—as well as the wires for ventilator manufacturers. As COVID-19 spread throughout the U.S. earlier this year, Excel was deemed an essential business, and therefore needed to figure out how to efficiently conduct operations and keep up with a rise in sales amid a widespread shutdown and disrupted supply chains and shipping networks. Using M1, Excel could see what jobs were being worked on, ensuring employees were prioritizing correctly, and could receive real-time job updates so production managers could monitor timelines and ensure on-time delivery to their customers. All authorized personnel at Excel were able to access the information necessary to work remotely and comply with health regulations.
“Beyond optimizing our business as a whole, M1 really helped us see and prioritize jobs as we scaled up our production of essential supplies in the early months of the pandemic,” said Colleen Weber, Business Manager at Excel Connection. “We are thankful for our partnership with M1 and are honored to be awarded the first-ever ECI Customer Excellence Award.”
Open to all ECI customers globally, the ECI Customer Excellence Award acknowledges innovators, growth drivers and visionaries in their use of business technology to achieve digital transformation. A panel of ECI solution and industry experts evaluated each applicant on the complexity of the project, clear statement of objectives and overall business impact of the initiative.
“Our core values at ECI are all about creating and delivering excellence for our customers to help them reach new heights in their own businesses,” said Ron Books, ECI’s CEO. “Our team was inspired by this year’s nominees—especially our winner—and are so proud of the incredible work they’re doing to generate positive change. Excel Connection’s use of M1 to not only improve its operations internally but to better serve their customers amid industry disruption is admirable.”
