Customer Success Story : Raym-Co, Inc.
Alora Helps This Job Shop Increase Production Efficiency
Who Is Raym-Co Inc?
Raym-Co Inc. is a small family-owned job shop located in Connecticut. Founded in 1978, this shop has tackled the defense, medical, and semiconductor industries. This company prides itself on being an industry leader committed to staying on the cutting edge of technology while maintaining its core values of quality, personal customer service, and dependability. Their in-house expertise enables the company to deliver products to customers with even the most demanding specifications.
Raym-Co Challenges: Life before Tech
As an old-school company, Raym-Co collected most of its data manually, using pen and paper. To increase efficiency and keep up with demand, Raym-Co needed visibility into production and bottlenecks. They could not confidently answer the most prevalent questions: Why is production not happening? Why did this stage take so long? Do we need more overtime or machinery?
When scheduling on the fly was no longer enough for this company, it began looking for an ERP system as its solution.
The Solution: Data Visibility
In 2024, Raym-Co chose Alora as its trusted solution for machine data visibility. The company can now see in real time when employees clock in and out, when machines are running or not, and when machines are down and WHY. In an industry where many seem to lull, Raym-Co kept pace and even increased semiconductor production.
Jamie Raymond, operations manager at Raym-Co, explains that Alora’s easy-to-use interface enabled operators to learn the software within weeks. He also says that having insights available to all operators sparked healthy competition on the shop floor. With firsthand data, Raym-Co Inc. can use that data to improve production.
“I’m so glad that we have it now because we can either say, ‘Hey, we have too much work’ or ‘What do we need to invest in to keep up with production?’ Whatever it is, we’re able to see it now.”
Seeing and tracking estimated times vs. actuals has helped Raym-Co adjust quotes more accurately. Once production is done, it can update quotes for the next time, bringing machine data into estimates, jobs, and employees.
When asked how Alora has helped, Jamie says, “It definitely has given us a leg up. At least it gives us more of a view on what we can handle and what we need to know going forward.”
““We saw that [with Alora] one department's efficiency was through the roof, and one department was not."”
Looking forward: The future of Raym-Co
When Raym-Co began utilizing Alora, the shop consisted of eight machines. When given access to proper data, it was apparent that the company needed more machinery to keep up with demand.
“We saw that one department's efficiency was through the roof, and one department was not,” explains Jamie.
Now that Alora helps Raym-Co with visibility into their production, the company has added 26 machines to their arsenal. With this kind of technology and visibility into production, Raym-Co will not only keep up with demand, but will have the efficiency to take on more jobs.
