What You Need To Know About Your JobBOSS² Implementation
ERP implementations should not be taken lightly. We have designed a process over the past 30+ years with over 9,000 job shops that will ensure a successful project with team members who know the ins and outs of your industry.
5 phases of your JobBOSS² implementation
We believe it is important to have clear communication and transparency from the start, so here is what you can expect:
Phase 1
Introduction email and kick-off meeting
To kick off the implementation process, you will receive an introductory email from your dedicated project manager welcoming you into the ECI family. Together, you will schedule your kick-off meeting to ensure full transparency. During this time, we will work to:
- Set clear expectations
- Learn about your processes
- Share our processes and best practices
- Create your implementation schedule
Phase 2
Data entry, data conversions, and system settings
During this phase, we will dig deeper into your processes and share how your data will be entered into JobBOSS². Your project manager will also connect you with your ERP consultant to help you with:
- System settings
- Data conversions or manual data entry
Phase 3
Estimating, quoting, and order entry
We will now introduce you to the basic functions of the solution. During this step, your project manager will work closely with you to create estimates, quotes, and orders using the data imported or entered in Phase 2.
If you are implementing KnowledgeSync, it is introduced during this phase so that you can see alerts and automated information about orders.
Phase 4
Purchasing and material management
We will continue the basic functions of the solution, and you will work with your Application Consultant to start entering open POs and inventory balances. You’ll also get to see your data at work through creating POs and receiving the orders for jobs and inventory.
*KnowledgeSync can be taken advantage of with purchasing and inventory.
Phase 5
Data collection
Once you’re comfortable with the basics, we’ll move on to collecting data from the shop floor. During this phase, you’ll work with your consultant on the appropriate setup and train your employees on entering their payroll time and labor time against jobs.
*KnowedgeSync can help by providing automated insight into data collection.
Optional
Accounting
If applicable, this is the phase where we’ll walk with you to verify AP check alignment and enter open AR and AP invoices, unreconciled checks, and beginning balances. A follow-up consulting session is recommended for month-end processing.
*You can use KnowledgeSync and various accounting reports to verify your data.

Custom Development
As part of the professional services team, Custom Development can help you improve your inventory, order, quoting, and reporting needs. Work with this team to achieve the necessary modifications and updates without relying on third-party vendors.

- Reporting: Our custom report writers are skilled in editing reports or creating new ones from scratch based on your business requirements.
- Data Imports and Exports: The custom solutions team can extract data from external applications into JobBOSS² to address your business needs. The team can also export data to an external application.
- Integration: The team can help connect different applications across the ECI ecosystem.

ERP selection and implementation is an important decision that should not be taken lightly. Many of our team members have been in your shoes and have firsthand experience that they will apply to your implementation.
Ben Carlson, Manager of Project Management
Ben has 10 years of IT Professional Services experience, holding positions in project management, training, and management. Today, he oversees our teams of Project Managers, providing leadership and guidance on project methodology, project governance, and project portfolio management.
What does he do outside of work? In his free time, Ben likes to spend time with his family, play golf, play hockey, and cut the grass.
Rob Paff, Project Manager Team Lead
Rob has 20 + years of IT Professional Service experience, holding positions in technical support, training, consulting, and project management/implementation. Rob is currently the Team Lead for Project Managers and is dedicated to continuous improvement with regular evaluation of our approach to project management.
What does he do outside of work? In his free time, Rob enjoys watching his four boys’ sports activities, biking and hiking, and following his local sports teams-the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals.
Courtney Pearce, Project Manager
Courtney has six years of Professional Services experience, holding positions in project management and as a Lead Technical Support Analyst, both for JobBOSS². Today, she is a Project Manager and is in charge of implementing the system for new customers.
What does she do outside of work? In her free time, Courtney likes to be with friends and family, kayak/spend time outdoors with her three dogs, cook, do home projects, and do yard work.
Mike Berninger, Project Manager
Mike has worked in software implementation and project management for 20+ years and has overseen the successful implementation of hundreds of customers.
What does he do outside of work? In his free time, Mike likes to spend time with his wife and 3-year-old daughter.
Mellissa Marcelo, Project Manager
Mellissa has 10 years of professional services experience, holding positions in project management, implementation, and customer support. She previously held management positions in Accounting for the manufacturing and trucking industries and is currently focused on supporting implementations for our JobBOSS² and Alora.
James Mason, Project Manager
James has 15 years of IT experience, holding positions in Software Development, Business Analysis, and Project Management. Jason is eager to offer your business a broad scope of Project Management talents and processes by establishing strategic plans throughout each engagement and bringing value to you through the JobBOSS² solution.
What does he do outside of work? James enjoys spending time with his two kids and watching his kid’s sports activities. He enjoys watching college football and basketball and spending time outdoors.
Jennifer Goldman, Project Manager
Jennifer has been with ECI since 2015 and has been in her current Project Manager position since February 2023. Before joining ECI, she was an end-user of our Acsellerate product in our Distribution division and worked in the office products industry for 25 years. She has held various roles throughout her career, including administrative, regional web support, sales administration management, major accounts implementation, software training, and documentation.
What does she do outside of work? Jennifer enjoys gardening, hummingbirds/wild birds, traveling, and spending as much time as possible with her family.
Ken Buell, Project Manager
Ken worked in manufacturing for 20+ years using JobBOSS, then became a consultant for the JobBOSS software helping small to medium businesses utilize the software to its fullest extent. Afterwards, he joined ECI as a project manager, where he is today.
What does he do outside of work? Ken enjoys spending time with his son and has served in the U.S. Coast Guard.

How long does an ERP implementation take?
Determining a timeline for ERP implementation is a complex task for businesses of all sizes.
